Garrett was born and raised in New York State. Since his teenage years, he has had a passion for learning languages. He first left his home country in 2018 to participate in the Internationales Preisträgerprogramm, an international youth exchange and German-language immersion program supported by Germany's Foreign Office. 

In 2021, he graduated from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Garrett completed his CELTA (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English) in 2024. 

Outside of language learning, Garrett's hobbies include photography and the outdoors.
